Injuries are treated with a combination of Moxibustion, Herbal Poultices and Chinese lotions specific for muscular strain and injury. Clients also receive an Injury Self Care Leaflet.

Lotion: Invigorates blood circulation, relaxes and activates tendons, reducing swelling and easing pain. For relief of pain, muscular ache, strains, sprains, bruises, arthritis, traumatic injury, fracture and dislocation of joints. It can dissipate fatigue before and after exercise.

Moxibustion: Chinese medicine’s form of heat treatment. Moxibustion speeds injury recovery by supplying nourishment to the body, dispersing cold, pain and dampness and by promoting the flow of energy and blood to remove blockages. Used in the treatment of injuries, back and knee pain.

Poultices: Specific herbal poultices are mixed toease pain, aid healing and reduce inflammation. Herbs such as Comfrey and Horsetail speed the mending of the connective tissue, bones, flesh and cartilage. Others such as Meadowsweet and White Willow ease pain as well as reducing inflammation.

Optional Herbal Medicine: Some injuries may benefit from the use of medicinal herbs.

Appropriate herbal tinctures / pills are prescribed to reduce pain, inflammation or to strengthen the body’s connective tissues. Many conditions benefit greatly from a combined approach of internal and external treatment

Back pain is treated with a combination of Massage using specific herbal oils, Moxibustion And Chinese lotions specific for muscular strain and injury. Clients also receive an advice booklet on self care.

Massage: Increases blood flow to your muscles, improves muscle tone and will relieve many types of muscle tightness. Massage can release muscle spasm and tension.

Herbal Body Oils: The body oils I use for massage are made from herbs specifically chosen for their medicinal benefit. These are combined with aromatherapy oils with similar properties.

Meadowsweet: Reduces pain and inflammation.

Comfrey: Heals and strengthens damaged muscle and to reduce the inflammation associated with sprains and broken bones. The roots and leaves of comfrey contain allantoin, a substance that promotes wound healing and tissue regeneration. Used for bruises, pulled muscles. Ligaments, fractures, sprains, and strains.
