Latin Name: Scutellaria lateriflora

Parts Used: Above ground portion.

Properties:Alterative,Anodyne, Antibacterial, Antispasmodic, Astringent, Bitter Tonic, Cerebral Tonic, Diuretic, Febrifuge, Nervine, Sedative.

Internal Uses: Nervous tension, Insomnia, PMS, Seizures, Alcoholism, Drug Withdrawal, Emotional Trauma, Epilepsy, Fear, Headache, Hysteria, Incontinence,  Multiple Sclerosis, Neuralgia, Neurasthenia, Pain, Panic Attacks, Parkinson's Disease, Restlessness, Spasms, Stress, Tremors.

Energetics: Bitter, Cold, Dry.

Organs: Heart, Liver.

Contraindications: Do not take during pregnancy. Large doses may cause confusion, giddiness, palpitations and twitching.

Interactions: No Known Interaction, however, Skullcap does possess sedative properties. Therefore, should be used with caution, if at all, by those who are taking benzodiazepines, barbiturates or other sedative medications (including antihistamines).

Growth and Harvest: Likes Damp Conditions. Plant is cut when flowering.
